Easter 2013

Once again we had a great time at our annual Easter Celebration! We had tons of activities to keep the whole family busy! Starting with Ladies Craft in the morning, they made Name Yard Art Signs… we had a great time, and they did a great job! Some even got their signs up in their yard!

 

 

 

Next up was kids activities: starting with Kids Craft, Eater Egg Dying, Games, Candybar BINGO and an Easter Egg Hunt featuring an appearance from the Eater Bunny, who stopped to take pictures with us!

         

We had to include something for the Dad’s! They competed in The Adult Horseshoe Competition. Then later in the afternoon, we had the Adult Easter Egg Scramble. One egg held the Jackpot, but which was it? I’m not sure who had the most fun, the adults finding money in their eggs, or the watchers watching them find the eggs! All around a really good time!

Splashtown Water Park opens beginning May 3rd!

The opening for Splashtown Water Park is right around the corner! Their weekend hours begin on May 3, 2013. They begin to open daily on the 23rd of May.

Splashtown is very popular, being the only water park in the Houston Area. Among its more thrilling aquatic attractions are the 75-ft tall, 132-ft long Tornado tube ride, the five-story Texas Freefall, and the enclosed Space Rapids tube slides, whose pitch-dark interiors are designed to make riders feel as if they are floating through space. They have a new ride debuting this season, The Brain Drain, that features launch chambers! They also have several family friendly spots, the lazy river, Crocodile Isle, Treehouse Island… and more!

Spring Texas has lots to keep you busy this month!

Hi everyone! Welcome back and thank you for checking out our Blog! Rayford Crossing RV Resort is conveniently located in Spring and just minutes away from The Woodlands and there are several upcoming Festivals to add to your “Must Sees”.

  • Don’t forget to check out The Woodlands Waterway Art Festival. This festival has not only amazing art work to browse and buy, but lots of good food, live music, and good company! This event features 200 fine art and fine craft artists from 35 states and 2 countries along with live entertainment throughout the festival, local visual & performing art in the ARTopoly area, delicious food, wine and beer. They have a little something for everyone!
  • We also have Old Town Spring hosting it’s annual Texas Crawfish Music Festival. Any and all crawfish-eating you’ve been doing so far this season has just been practice for the main event! It is coming up on April 19 through 21 and April 26 through 28. Featuring live music from many well known Texas Artists like The Randy Rogers Band, Robert Earl Keen, and Jack Ingram.

  • Last but not least, The Insperity Championship, founded in 2004 was rated number one tournament on the Champions Tour in 2008 by the PGA Tour Officials, golf professionals and PGA Tour Staff. The Insperity Championship is gearing up for its tenth year, and is located just minutes away from Rayford Crossing RV Resort. The tournament will be held April 29- May 5, 2013 at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course and will once again have one of the best fields. Expected players are: Defending Champion Fred Funk, Brad Faxon, Fred Couples, Fuzzy Zoeller, Ben Crenshaw, Mark Calcavecchia, and more!

Good Sam Honors Rayford Crossing

For RV travelers, it can be a jungle out there on the highways. Fortunately, Rayford Crossing RV Resort near Houston, Texas, strives to take the rough edges out of being on the road, from check-in to the time you drive out of the park.

The high quality becomes evident to guests soon after they enter the park’s gates. After taking care of business at the front office, guests are led to their RV site by a crew member riding in a golf cart. Once the rig is parked, the staffer gives the campsite’s picnic table a wipe-down, hoses off the water spigot and removes the sewer cap. After settling in, guests can peruse a menu of concierge services, from firewood delivery to dinner reservations in Houston, just 15 minutes away. Did we mention the onsite dog-grooming service?
Owner Gwen Craig says that the full-service RV experience has been an integral part of the 112-space resort since it opened in 2005. “We wanted to build a park that provided more services to customers,” says Craig, who purchased the land with her husband in 1999. “There wasn’t anybody out there who was doing a lot of that.”
 Craig says staff training is one of the key components to giving customers a luxury experience. Before employees go to work at Rayford Crossing, they’re put through their paces at Timber Ridge Village, a smaller park owned by the Craigs.
 “Staff have to have a bit of class,” says Craig. “They need to know how to address guests. We really stress that on the front end. We have a couple of interviews with them.”
 Travelers also come from as far north as Canada to enjoy the Lone Star State’s warm climate during the October-through-March “winter Texan” season. As snowbirds fill spaces, the campground rolls out a slate of winter activities.
 “We have an activities director on board and a committee of winter Texans who come in and work with the front desk,” says Craig. “We do a cruise every year and overnight casino trips.” When summer rolls around, the campground shifts gears to accommodate the younger set, including families with children.
